THE HAWKINS RACE

This silver bowl was presented by Bert Hawkins in 1960 as a permanent trophy for team racing between the Essex Yacht Club and Pettipaug Yacht Club and is entrusted to the care of the Essex Yacht Club. A team race is to be held each year primarily to foster the aptitude of local sailors in this type of racing. With this in mind, every effort should be made to pick teams and boats of equal capability. The races shall be run under the joint supervision of Essex Yacht Club and Pettipaug Yacht Club race committees.
